Big Letter Winslow, Arizona, Postcard

Here's another card from my postcard buying binge in Winslow. Big letter cards have grown on me.... but not like a wart or anything. I just like them. :)

Standin' On A Corner In Winslow, Arizona

I had the chance to stop in Winslow, Arizona, recently. Amongst all the great postcards I grabbed during my visit, this card featured the "standin' on a corner in Winslow, Arizona" scene described in the popular 1972 song "Take It Easy" by the Eagles.

The town of Winslow actually did create a "corner" to memorialize the song.

It was cool to see a steady trickle of tourists stopping by and snapping pictures of the "corner".

Winslow, Arizona, is located along historic Route 66, which makes it even more enticing for sightseers to stop by for a visit.

Arizona Dust Devil Postcard

Long time postcard-swappin' pal, Denise, sent this terrific dust devil postcard! She noticed it in my Postcrossing favorites.

Coincidentally, I had just recently posted about an encounter with a dust storm and a dust devil this past May while in Texas.

Thanks again, Denise!

Another Snoopy In Arizona

This is what it looks like when Mother Nature and a modern-day comic strip collide....a natural rock formation with an uncanny resemblance to the ever popular, well known "Snoopy" character from the comic strip "Peanuts".

I had just posted about this Snoopy in Wikieup, Arizona. But this Snoopy was definitely worthy of mention, too. It is located about 25 miles (40 km) from the Snoopy in Wikieup.

Bagdad, Arizona USA

My destination on a recent trip out west was to a copper mine in Bagdad, Arizona. Bagdad is located in an extremely remote area, and is know as a company town, meaning most everything in town is owned and operated by the company that owns the copper mine.

This copper rod sculpture greets visitors as they enter the town.

The figures are 10-1/2 ft (3.20m) and 8-1/2 ft (2.59m) in height. It is dedicated to the men and women mine workers of Bagdad.

I marvel at, and greatly admire, such creative and artistic talent.

I really enjoyed seeing this unique sculpture on a beautiful, sunny day in Arizona!

Snoopy In Wikieup, Arizona

On a recent trip way out west, as I was approaching Wikieup, Arizona, I noticed this eye-catcher on the side of the road.

I had to stop for a closer look.

Well, looky here....it's a Snoopy family riding a rocket out in the desert!

And Woodstock, too!
I don't know if there is a specific meaning for Snoopy, a rocket, and Wikieup, Arizona, but it sure is a unique way to welcome travelers to Wikieup. : )
