Country Church
I had a nice drive today, through farmlands and on river roads of Illinois and Missouri. At one point, I spotted this church steeple rising above a corn field and framed nearly perfectly in an opening of a tree line, with thick forest in the background. I didn't need to turn down the road to see the entire church building, just seeing the steeple gave me a peaceful feeling.

My Favorite Squirrel
I was watching 4 squirrels scurrying around in the snow today.
I, then, decided that my favorite squirrel of the 4, was the one willing to sit and dine on the corn that I leave out for them.
This chubby little fella was so busy eating, he didn't seem to mind me snapping his picture.
By now, you're thinking what does this have to do with postcards and road trips? Nothing! Which makes it the perfect post to close out the year. :)
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Corny Mailbox
I think I hurt my neck doing a double-take when I drove past this mailbox near Quincy, Illinois.
A corn stalk mailbox!
Is that cool or what?!
And, a nice little salute to all the farmers responsible for making Illinois the second ranking corn producer in the nation.
