Silver Moon Drive-In, Lakeland, Florida
Last week while in Lakeland, Florida, I just happened to find a pretty cool (still operating) drive-in.
The Silver Moon opened in 1948. It has changed ownership numerous times, and even took a direct hit from a tornado in 1950. This 67 year old relic is quite the survivor!
Admission was 35 cents way back then, but now is $5.00. I'd still call that a bargain.
There aren't that many drive-ins in existence anymore, so to find one in such great shape, and seemingly thriving, is a real thrill! :)

Minion Sighting!
How fun and clever is this? Industrial junk turned into a minion! Spotted this happy guy in Colorado.
I'm not up on minion names. Which one is this? Bob, Kevin, Stuart, Dave, Jerry, Carl, Jorge, Phil? Or is it an imposter?

Elvis the Actor Postcard
Only 6 days left of Elvis Presley's 80th Birthday 2/3 month!
Here's Elvis the stud muffin while on set during filming of Love Me Tender in 1956. This movie was his acting debut.

Elvis Movie Postcard
Day..um ...I don't know... of Elvis' 80th Birthday 2/3 Month....
Elvis the actor. Apparently, there wasn't much this guy couldn't do!
He starred in Girls! Girls! Girls!, a 1962 musical comedy movie, which was nominated for Best Motion Picture - Musical at the Golden Globes.
His song, "Return to Sender", is featured in the movie.

Outgoing Indiana Jones Postcard
Overall, I haven't sent out many postcards this year. But, back in August, I did mail this cool "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" movie postcard to Jaana in Finland.
A few movie-related stamps from the back side.

Pepsi Postcard and a Squished Penny
US-1466153
Donia in South Dakota USA, likes vintage looking ads. Did I nail this one or what?! She also LOVES squished pennies and said it would be AMAZING to get a penny along with the card. AMAZINGLY, I had squished pennies, too!! So, I taped one to the back of the card and mailed it off. I had my doubts, but AMAZINGLY, it made it to her all in one piece!
Here's the penny.
It's from the historic Ohio State Reformatory, which is now a museum. A haunted museum. It's a happening place, with lots of tours, ghost events, private social events, banquets, etc. The day that I visited, there was an old-time baseball game being played out on the grounds, the teams were wearing vintage-type uniforms.
Parts of the movie, "The Shawshank Redemption", were filmed there.
