Mantta, Finland Postcard

Guess who was traveling in Finland again? That's right, Jaana! She so very kindly sent me a few cards while on her adventures. :)

This first one is a lovely multi-view of Serlachius Museot, an art museum in Mantta. It looks like a beautiful and fascinating place!

Gorgeous landscape stamp.
Thanks so much, Jaana. :)

ABBA The Museum Postcard

This just in, literally...from Sweden to Finland to US!

Jaana so very kindly shared a piece of her holiday to Sweden with me, by way of this fantastic ABBA postcard!
She visited the ABBA Museum, and said it was great. :)

Thanks very much, my friend!

Great stickers and stamp!

Wamego, Kansas

On the road to Utah recently, I had to make a detour to Wamego, Kansas, to see this gorgeous old Dutch windmill.

It was built in 1879 by a Dutch immigrant 12 miles north of Wamego. It was used to grind grain into flour and cornmeal.

In 1925, it was disassembled piece by piece, then moved by 35 team and wagons to Wamego.

The mill is 25 ft. in diameter and 45 feet high.

A bust of Ceres, goddess of grain, is set above the window.

It was well worth the detour to come see this monument to Kansas pioneers!

The Wamego Museum is right next to the windmill. I didn't have time to explore inside. I'm not sure if it was even open or not. It's still that time of year when some things are still "closed for the season".

Pretty stamp of Cherry Blossoms in Washington D.C.

Two B&Ws in one day! Yes!

I really like this unusual card, also. A variety of baskets on display at Grace Hudson Museum
in Ukiah, California.

Many thanks to Colin in England!

The perfect fun stamp for winter doldrums, a cartoon penguin and snowman.

Incoming and Outgoing Postcards

Love this one.....
Herbie the Love Bug!
Thank you so much, Edith.

From Darlene in California.
"Friendship Fountain. A family of dolphins leaps high among the visitors to Santa Barbara's waterfront. This graceful sculpture, by local artist Bud Bottoms, recalls the Chumash Indian tradition of kinship with these gentle sea mammals."

Sent this one to Dale in Wisconsin. I don't think it matched up very well with any of his preferences, but at least he said the Phoenix ship stamp was interesting!

<---Interesting Phoenix ship stamp over there on the left.

Lynn928 in China said beautiful scenery of my country would be good. Naturally, I sent her this card of flat, mountainless Illinois farmland...because.. well... it IS scenic... no matter what bragging people who live in mountainous states think!

US-1103151
Sent this fishy card to Sarah in Indiana.
I did a better job matching one of her preferences than I did with poor Dale in Wisconsin.

Fishy stamp!

South Carolina Railroad Museum

Located in Winnsboro, South Carolina. Closed last week, but I couldn't pass up this spur of the moment photo op.

If I were a true train enthusiast, I would really have been bummed to not be able to thoroughly explore everything on display....

....but it was cool to see a few of these old train cars up close and personal anyway.

Air conditioned!

Pullman car.

"United States Mail Railway Post Office"

I miss the caboose nowadays.... it's so anti-climatic as the tail end of a train passes by with that sensor doodad attached to the last car.
