I hope Easter Sunday was a peaceful day for everyone.

This very cute and colorful Easter postcard arrived last week from Finland! Jaana always has perfect timing, which I admire  and appreciate immensely.

The backside had a lovely message, lots of stickers and a wonderful stamp. These things always bring a smile to my face. :)

Buddha Squirrel Postcard

 The third card from Jaana was also mailed from Ylläs - Äkäslompolo which is "In the middle of nowhere," as the front side of the card says. :) And the back side says "Buddha Squirrel". It does look like he is in deep thought!

Äkäslompolo, Finland Postcard

The next card from Jaana shows the beautiful autumn landscape of Äkäslompolo. This is a popular place for cross-country skiing and Alpine skiing in the winter.

Animal lover that I am, I absolutely love this card of a sleeping reindeer calf.

Lapland is the northernmost region of Finland. I'm sorry, but that's it. That's all I know. :) And I don't know how to pronounce "Yllas", either.

But I DO know that this is a beautifully scenic card that Jaana managed to mail off while visiting there, even though there doesn't seem to be a post office anywhere in sight!

Lapland Reindeer Postcard

The very best thing to arrive in my mailbox yesterday was this super cool card full of reindeer from Jaana!  She had been visiting Lapland, and said it was beautiful. She also took the time, yet again, to mail the card while she was actually still there. That was so very nice and thoughtful of her. :)

Tove Jansson Postcard

Another postcard recently received from Jaana!

You may or may not recognize this woman, but she is none other than Tove Jansson, "Moomin's mother", as Jaana wrote on the card.

What's a "Moomin", you ask? Well, don't waste time asking, just google it. :)

She also shared that she had visited Ateneum, an art museum in Helsinki, to see Tove Jansson's exhibition. How cool is that?!

Suomenlinna Finland Postcard

Happy Mid-September!

Here's a colorful, artsy card from Suomenlinna, Finland. Jaana was kind enough to mail it to me while she was visiting there not long ago.

Suomenlinna is close to Helsinki. It is an inhabited sea fortress built on six islands.  It is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a popular tourist attraction.

Jaana sent this super cool card of a bear seemingly playing peek-a-boo, or maybe it's just doing some tree hugging. Who knows??

I DO know that if I were to have an opportunity to snap a photo of something like this, it would be one huge thrill!
