Big Frog Sculpture

Found this giant, whimsical frog in Harpersville, Alabama. It's in front of a shop that sells pots and things from Mexico.

I had read online that Mr. Frog, also, came from Mexico. I'm very glad that he made the trip to the US, otherwise, I never would have seen him!

Lincoln Memorial Mural, Lexington, Kentucky

Here's a pretty multi-view postcard of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC.

The Lincoln Memorial features a majestic sculpted figure of Abraham Lincoln, the 16th US President, seated, thoughtfully reflecting upon the course of the nation.

It is truly one of the capital's magnificent landmarks.

And HERE is a street level view of a 60-foot (18m) psychedelic, kaleidoscopic, patriotic Abraham Lincoln mural in Lexington, Kentucky.

I would certainly call this street art majestic and magnificent, also!

Wall Mural

I just spotted this beauty the other day in Belleville, Illinois.

Isn't it awesome?

The wall mural, I mean, not the trash can or the car.

There should be an annual National Awesome Wall Mural Day dedicated to celebrating awesome wall murals.

Junk Art - Junk Yard Dog

Another "what is that?" moment. Oh, cool! It's a 1966 Plymouth Fury-turned-junk art!

Ha ha! I love this stuff!

The sign says "Welcome. The home of Bob Wade's Junk Yard Dog".

Even if this funky cigar-smokin' junk yard dog art piece on display at a San Antonio salvage yard doesn't impress you, Bob "Daddy-O" Wade's credentials will.

Thank you, Bob Wade, for creating this crazy lookin', googly-eyed pooch!

"Burning Dream" Oil Painting Postcard

Jaana visited artist Soile Yli-Mayry's art gallery in Kuortane, Finland, recently. She was so thoughtful to send me this reproduction of one of Soile's very colorful oil paintings. This one is "Burning Dream".

As if it weren't already colorful enough, an artist at the USPS added a touch of black to the card, along the way. ;)

I like how the stamp has the same color theme going on.
Thanks very much, Jaana! :)

Rusty Mechanism, a Giant Among Men

I found this big guy at an old-factory-turned-dining-retail-entertainment-complex called The Factory in Franklin, Tennessee, which is actually listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

So, anyway, his name is Rusty Mechanism. He is 20 ft. in height, and weighs in at a hefty 4600 pounds. (6.096m/2087kg)
And he stands as a tribute to American industry and all working people.

The closer you get, the more clever detail you spot.

Each hand took a minimum of 30 days to construct.

Giant-sized lunch box.

Six long years in the making.

Fun facts about Rusty.
I love this stuff!

Outgoing Artsy Postcard

 US-1466147
Gracie in Nebraska, USA, got this artsy card. In her profile, she said she is passionate about arts and crafts of all sorts, so I thought this might be a good one for her.

I guess this would be considered an "abstract" of the Washington Monument in Washington D.C.
