Cardinal in Winter
I snapped a pic of this hardy cardinal by the bird feeders, recently. I'm so glad that they stick around, along with some other birds, during the cold months. It's nice to see such vibrant color during the dreary winter season.
The cardinal is the official bird of 7 U.S. states.
Kansas is not one of those seven states. :)
Have a great weekend!

Winter Has Officially Arrived
Happy 2nd day of winter!
After winter, comes spring, which means only 104 days until St. Louis Cardinals 2015 season begins! Woo hoo!

Birds On A Wire
I snapped this photo yesterday morning, pre-dawn, at an intersection in Brownsville, Texas. There isn't anything photographically appealing about this picture. But, what is pretty cool about it are the hundreds of birds perched on the wires overheard.
Every wire was covered with birds, all facing the same direction.
Just an unusual, fun little sighting to start the day!

Blue Heron
I love spotting and watching wildlife, especially when I'm not even looking for it. I was viewing a beautiful sunset recently, and noticed this lone blue heron standing in a nearby, ugly, under-construction lake bed.
The muddy lake bed was instantly transformed into a scene of beauty and peacefulness simply because of the lone blue heron, it's reflection, and the sunset's reflection on the water. Amazing.

Seagulls At The Mall
Spotted these seagulls resting in a mall parking lot in Merrillville, Indiana yesterday.
It's just something I enjoyed seeing. : )
