World's Largest Time Capsule, Seward, Nebraska

What's the first thing that comes to mind when you hear "Seward, Nebraska?"

Could it possibly be WORLD'S LARGEST TIME CAPSULE?!

If not, it should be from now on! And you're welcome if you ever get a question about it on Trivia Crack. :)

Look at all the goodies they put inside (underground) in 1975: New 1975 Chevrolet Vega, new Kawasaki motorcycle, thousands of letters and memorabilia from across the US.

The pyramid was added in 1983. It houses a badly beaten up 1975 Toyota. LOL

The grand opening is July 4, 2025. Book your hotel room soon!

Unadilla Bill, Nebraska's Official Groundhog

The official Groundhog Day was 2+ weeks ago. Brenda did a nice post on her blog on that day, featuring this very same card.

Since I'm, oftentimes, late for just about everything, it seems fitting that my own Groundhog Day post would be 2+ weeks late!

So, a few months ago, I was lucky enough to be able to make a stop in the tiny town of Unadilla, Nebraka's official Groundhog Capital.
I had hoped to find the real Bill the groundhog that I had read about.....

..... and I did find him, at his home, The Bar, which is a real bar. He had been resting on top of that cooler case in the background.

Unfortunately, Bill, unlike his cousin Phil in  Punxsutawney, Pennyslvania, is no longer alive and well.

But still, from what I was told, Bill is a good sport about it, and participates in the town's yearly groundhog parade and festivities on the first Saturday of February.

Outgoing Nebraska Postcard

Sent this Nebraska multi-view card to Latvia a while back.

Be sure to take a gander at the Elvis sunglasses on the ear of corn. It's the best part of the card. :)

Carhenge Alliance, Nebraska USA

NOTE: Please ignore the previous post's ignore note. I am back in baseball afterglow mode!!  Anyway.....

If you're into funky, oddball roadside attractions, (like I am)  this is one that should be seen at least once in your lifetime.... or twice, if you're lucky!

Carhenge TO DO list:
First, after a long drive to the middle of nowhere in western Nebraska, enter the cozy, little visitor center for refreshments and souvenirs.

Then, sit a spell, and contemplate life or whatever. And when you are ready.....

........behold, Carhenge in all its glory!

Explore it up close, and take lots and lots of pictures!

But before your camera batteries konk out, be sure to..........

.....take a stroll around the grounds to view the wacky "car art" scattered everywhere. And take lots and lots more pictures!

BUT, just in case you never make it, I'm more than happy to share my own pictures with you!

Alien Spaceship Water Tower

I know water towers serve an important purpose in society, but do they have to be so boring to look at? NO! At least, not in Ogallala, Nebraska, they don't!

This is the most non-boring, cleverly painted water tower I've seen in quite a while, and I like it!
